The peach tree, scientifically known as Prunus Persica, grows no taller than 4-5 meters and belongs to the Rosaceae family. Its name suggests that it originates from Persia , although various sources believe it comes from China , where it was considered a symbol of immortality .

In ancient times it was consecrated to Harpocrates, the God of silence and childhood , who was depicted as a child with a finger in front of his mouth, so much that even today children's cheeks are compared to peaches for their softness.

Peaches contain vitamin C and, in smaller quantities, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, and B6. They have a low glycemic index and are therefore able to counteract appetite peaks .
